Since March the wedding industry has come to a dramatic halt, venues like us have had to diversify in order to survive. With the rise of staycations Maunsel House have adapted and evolved as a hotel business opening up our doors for bed and breakfast.
With only 15% of Brits getting away for a holiday in 2020, 22% are expected to escape over the winter months. Rather then making the escape for just a few days Sir Ben has extended this to putting his home up for rent for the winter months. With 100 acres of stunning parkland and 13 charismatic bedrooms in the 13th Century mansion there is plenty to explore whilst staying here.
Maunsel House also boasts a 4 bedroom South Wing which is included in the rental of the house.
Maunsel is the idyllic setting for a family Christmas. With roaring fires located throughout the house it provides a warm contrast to the winter chill. The centrepiece of the house is the Dining Room which hosts a magnificent table seating 14 and the perfect place for your family’s Christmas Dinner. Coming from Tuscany in the 1400’s it is one solid piece of walnut and the most valuable antique within Maunsel House. This table has seated royalty and if it could talk would speak tales one could only imagine.
Instinct would be to cover it up and protect such a precious artefact but Maunsel welcomes guests to sit round it and share their own stories, thus playing their own part in the house’s impressive history.
Rumour has it that Jeffery Chaucer retreated to Maunsel for 9 months and worked on the Canterbury tales here. With a mention in the Doomsday book as well Maunsel House is firmly drafted into Britain’s history books. So why not come and play your part in Maunsel House’s history and let Maunsel play a part in yours.
